Background:
I moved to Columbus, OH about 7 years ago to fulfill my dream by working in corporate retail (Victoria’s Secret). A few years later, I met my husband, got a new job and made new friends. Since I was no longer working for Victoria’s Secret, I felt as though I had lost a part of myself and was looking to find my purpose. I would take on hobbies and learn about various things; waiting for the passion to click. Last year, 2018, was my first year riding in Pelotonia (fundraiser for cancer-research). After my ride, I was so inspired to learn more about the foods we eat and things we do that cause so many of us to be diagnosed with this life-threatening illness. In August 2019, I found my passion and became Vegan (cold turkey!). I decided from then on that I would make it my job to do any and all research, watch documentaries, listen to podcasts and talk to people about a Vegan lifestyle. My mom, previously plant-based and looking to get back on track, referred me to Pam Popper as she recalls watching her speak in a former class. I was immediately interested, took the class and have already started sharing the wealth of knowledge I have learned. To be continued…
Reason for becoming a Certified Food Over Medicine Instructor:
I wanted to learn the importance of “why” I should continue my Vegan lifestyle. I wanted to be equipped with the right information to pass along to friends and family members so that they could also understand the importance of what we put in our bodies.
