Background:
Hi, my name is Rebekah Anderson.  I have three wonderful children: Parker (10), Grant (7) and Evie (4).  I am currently an Early Childhood Educator with a degree in Social Work.  I am a life-long learner.  I am a passionate learner when it comes to: whole foods plant based nutrition, depression/anxiety, trauma, emotional intelligence, early childhood and positive parenting.  I love to play with my children, teach, laugh, dance, sing, cook, play sports and be in nature.  I love the arts, specifically, music, theater and photography.  I want to begin to delve deeper into yoga.  My faith and my family are most important to me.  I am striving to live my life with kindness, compassion and understanding.

Reason for becoming a Certified Food Over Medicine Instructor:
After my third child, I was about 190 lbs.  I gained a lot of weight with my first and then never lost it.  I had been diagnosed with sleep apnea and struggled with depression and anxiety since college.  I knew I needed to lose weight to have a better quality of life, but also wondered if what I ate would make a difference in treating my depression and anxiety.  I became interested in plant based nutrition after watching Forks Over Knives.  I remember writing down the names of all the doctors from the documentary so that I could check out their personal websites to see if what they were saying was legit.  When Dr. Pam Popper showed up on the video, I realized that she was right in Central Ohio where I lived.  I looked up the Wellness Forum, went to one of their free informational dinners and the rest is history.  Within about 6 months, I was down to about 140 lbs, but that wasn’t what mattered the most to me, though it was an awesome bonus.  My sleep apnea was gone.  I was able to get off all my medication that I’d been on for almost 15 years.  I never thought I’d be able to sleep without medication.  My depression was all but gone.  I was laughing and smiling again.  I was able to play with my children more.  I had energy.  I felt rested when I woke up.  I had interest in activities that I once loved and participated in.  I was me again.  I am living proof that Food is Medicine.   Food is such an important factor in our overall wellness and well-being.  I want to help others get their life back.  That is why I have become a Certified Food Over Medicine Instructor.
